Being a Praying Parent

I always think "I'm a praying parent." I pray for Hayes to sleep when I need rest or he is sick and I pray for him to get well when he is sick. We pray at meals and I thank God for him, but I'm not really being a praying parent.

At one of my baby showers, I was given an amazing and thoughtful gift. A simple book called "Mom's Prayer Journal" by Rachel Jones. I knew it was neat but I didn't dive into it immediately.

Then, as many of you know, I was asked to be director (leader, I can't remember the exact term) of our Mom's ministry at church. We do the Jean Stockdale studies (Jean is the Mom's director at Bellevue Baptist in Memphis). And Jean focuses a lot on praying for your children - as we should!

During our session one day, we were discussing the question "do we pray for our children." I was amazed by one women's neat way of praying for her children. She keeps a prayer journal for them. That way, one day - she can go back and show them the prayers she prayed and the way God answered them.

Wow. Really.

So, today - I started being a praying mom. I am using these 2 resources - the Mom's Prayer Journal and a prayer journal for Hayes. The Mom's Prayer Journal is divided into sections and just supplies verses and apply to that topic (ex: Salvation or A heart like His). I love it!

I am already excited about showing Hayes this when he grows up. I hope to have many journals to give him.

Baby Wipes

When I had Hayes, I was encouraged by my friend Beth Gagliano to make homemade baby wipes. I love them and Hayes rarely ever has any diaper rashes (if he does, it is from antibiotics not wipes). So, I've been asked lately about how to make them, so here ya go!

Supplies:
A diaper pail (buy the cheapest one at Kroger/Walmart)
Paper towel
Knife
Baby Wash/Shampoo
Baby Lotion
1 Cup of hot water

Begin by Cutting the paper towel in half and pulling out the hard roll part. You will see a few pictures down that I also usually have Seth do both of these parts...  Then put the papertowels into your pail.
Mix 2 tablespoons of baby wash/shampoo and 2 tablespoons of baby lotion into 1 cup of hot water (not boiled, just hot) and mix.
Then, pour that mixture into over the papertowels. At this point, pull out the one one paper towel in the middle. You will put this one paper towel through the hole in he lid. NOTE: Seth had to cut the hole to make it easier for the papertowels to go through.
 There he is.... : )

And, I decorated this one since it's for a friend who loves owls! But, I'm not very happy with it... if you have any ideas, let me know!

And there ya have it! Homemade baby wipes. Cheap. Easy. Good for baby. : )

Lately....

I am terrible at this... but hopefully (one day) I will get better.  A friend of mine has started blogging more and that has encouraged me too...

Mr. Hayes turned one (a month ago) and here are a few snapshots from his big day! We had so much fun! I felt so blessed having friends and family from all over come to celebrate our little guy's day. I told Seth it was like our wedding all over again - getting to see such sweet people who mean so much to us.

Spring break was last week and each member of the Price Family did something different. Hayes went to Kosciusko to stay with The Prices (Seth's parents) and he had a blast! Seth went camping all by himself which would be miserable to me, but he really enjoys it. And I went to visit my parents in Destin. The break was so nice and we are all refreshed and ready to conquer the day-to-day all over again!

We've got some strange times ahead of us though. As of March 24th (Saturday) I will no longer be employed. I was a contract employee (long story, won't get into all of that) and it was such a blessing. I got to work full time from home. Perfect. I'm so thankful for that position, but the contract is up and as of today, the company doesn't have anywhere to contract me out too... : (  So, I will be jobless at the end of this week. I should be worried and anxious - and scared of being broke! But, I have had the most beautiful peace during this time and have been overly reminded to TRUST God and remember that He is the provider. So, I am trusting God and not sinning by being anxious and trying to take this into my own hands.  A door is open, but I'm just not sure if it is the right door for our family. So, all prayers are appreciated. I really only want to be part time, so I can spend time at home with Hayes. God knows all of this and I believe has something that I cannot imagine and that will be wonderful. I am praying for faith to hold on the truth I know!

Thanks for reading this... I hope to blog more soon.
